Final Thoughts

Final Thoughts
I signed up for this class after dropping it in 2009 due to an emergency out of state, so I kind of knew what I was getting myself into. I had no ideas that Mrs. Croker added blogs to the class though. I was like, no! This is not how you do your class, but I have come to understand the blogging. I don’t care for it, only because you picked the topics. I enjoyed all of the blogs. I know I will never see anyone of you after May 2012, because my wife is in the Navy so we will be moving to Washington State. I have in joyed all of you and will miss a great teacher G. Croker. I will be attending Oxnard in the spring so I’ll see you’ll around.

The Good Old Days

The Good Old Days
The last time I had a great time was when I went to visit my family in Mississippi. Since I moved to southern California I’ve missed a lot of family functions and had another child. So when my family found out I was coming home, they threw me a party. They wanted to meet my new born baby girl as well.  When I arrived my aunts, uncles, and cousins where all in the living room with smiling faces. Each one of my aunts made their special made special dish. My father was in the back yard grilling and cooking fish. I had call and complained about not finding the fish I was use to eat in California. So when I arrived he had a big pan full of fish.
We had some cold beers and sat outside talking about the new life changes that I’ve been experiencing. He was so happy to meet his new granddaughter, and laughed at the fact she looks more like him then I do. We then sat down as a family and ate. I never looked at myself as being that important to do all of this, but they thought I was. I was so happy and filled with joy. My father and me never was the hug and kiss type of father and son, but I know he loves me. He never shows emotions, but he told me he loved me. We played cards, ate and drank into the night. It reminded me of the times I've missed and the good old days. I had a great time.

Star Players!

My mom is so important to me, because I watched how hard she worked to take care of my brother, sister, and me. She should me that hard work is not just for the boys. She worked two jobs just to make sure we had nice things. I would get up a 7am wouldn’t see my mom until 10 pm at night. She made it be known that nothing comes easy. My mom is tougher than most dudes I know, and that is what she passed down to us. Not to say that my dad wasn’t there, but having us on the weekends just didn’t amount to what my mom did.
My grandmother passed in 2007, and I still live the way she would have wanted to see me live. She thought me to control my temper, because I use to lash out very violently. She showed me how to control that part of me. She also preached the importance of education. She always told me to learn as much as I can; no matter what it is I’m learning. She played the role of the mediator for the family. I try to do that, but my temper for my family is short.
My third person is a new friend I met 2 years ago. He is a retired military vet. I needed the guidance and advice of someone older. He did and is doing well for himself. He is like my mentor in a lot of ways. He has financial stability, and knowledge of things most people have to learn. I go to him with a lot of my problems. We met in California, but we have family staying in the same small town. It’s good to have people around like him. I have a lot of people I learned from but these three mean a lot to me.

Fast Food Nation changed my life

“Fast Food Nation”

I may still be a meat eater, but I’m more likely to look for other food sources now. This book shook up my world, and the fact that we’re not as safe as we think. Just the other day I was want to buy some ground beef, but I put it back thinking about what could be or is in it. I makes you take a long look at yourself and what you eat. I know it will be hard for me to change, but I can’t go to the store and put up meat without have quotes put in to my head.

As for fast food I know that have the best quality of meat, but the practices it uses is unfair and I will think about that before pulling up at any fast food joint. I think I’m going to just start cook at home more and staying away from the fast food. I’m not a diehard fan of a fast food restaurant, so that would be easy for me to do. Even thinking about my children eating McDonald’s makes me upset, because he has no clue what in the food. I might try something different for a while, and eat less meat. I’m happy to have read this book and thank you for boarding of my view.

Blah Blah Blah

I find myself listen to talk radio; more than anything else. I hate what hip hop has become. For the last 4 or 5 years it all sounds the same, and it has force me to listen to other genre. I like what I have become, and I feel as if i was getting a big dose of dummy music from the radio.I have my Dj equipment in its coffins right now, and I would love to pull it out; but not for that trash on the radio. The BET hip hop awards cyphers where cool, now that hip hop. I would spin something like that.

I'm not downing my talk radio but it they start back playing that I might just tune in. I listen to thing that speaks to my soul and heart, not that dummy mess. Maybe I just growing up, but the radio sound like nosie, as my grandfather would say. My list is few, and doesn't have Wayne or  Drake anywhere near it. It just sound like a lot of blah blah blah.
